Well it’s true. I’ve been away from the site for a while allowing the page to fill with cobwebs and fall to entropy which will consume us all. Just to you know perk up your day.
Where have I been? Well actually mostly on my sofa. You see unfortunately for about a week my doctor diagnosed me with a virus but she had to run a swab just to make sure since she though it was swine flu. Luckily it wasn’t but it was still a pretty miserable situation to be in.
In addition to that my personal life decided to crumble apart. Being there and doing that wasn’t fun. The of course I had some minor issues in the office which has lead me to suffer from even more of a fun that usual.
The thing is the world in which I started STW has changed so much. I was writing a novel, (albeit slowly) that reflected the overly materialistic decadent culture which was miring Dublin into a mess of it’s own making. Now people are much less indulgent. The government is desperately trying to plug holes in the public coffers and try to float the sinking ship Ireland.
Currently Dublin is the 2nd most expensive place to live in Europe. It might have one of the highest income’s per capita but over 60% of this goes immediately to somebody else. Even the small treats like going to the movies have become a potential break breaker.
Maybe this isn’t too bad maybe this will make people wake up. There’s a lot of potential in this situation. We’ve got the potential to move away from the overly materialistic greedy culture which has permeated Irish society from the very bottom to the top. We’ve got the opportunity to start making changes in how we do business and we perceive those in other countries.
Unfortunately the tragic reality is that many of those opportunities will go missed. The materialism will remain alive and well just that it will be a little bit more subtle and reserved.
As for the story? Well I need to think about what direction I want to take it in. I need to look at where would these characters be now and what I need to have happen to them for the end game.
As for a title, still not named. Maybe that’s what I should call it, Still Not Named.
